Hello!

Thank you for taking the time to look at our website.

Our school is situated in the eastern end of the market town of Hexham. We have four classes, an Early Years Unit and a specialist Language Class. This is an ideal size – large enough to have single classes but small enough for everyone to get to know each other. We have a large playing field, three playgrounds and a nature garden; we also enjoy beautiful views over Hexham and beyond.

Our school is a happy one where each child feels relaxed and valued and we would encourage you to visit us to view the school. Please telephone to make an appointment.

Our Aims

The Governors seek to support Hexham East First School's aims to recognise that children learn and thrive when they are healthy, safeguarded from harm and engaged. Therefore our fundamental aim is to provide a secure, healthy, happy and hard working environment in which children of all abilities can learn with confidence.

We want our children to...

Be Healthy

We encourage the physical and mental wellbeing and healthy lifestyles of all of our children.

Stay Safe

We provide a secure, caring and supportive environment in which all our children have equal access to the curriculum and are encouraged to strive for excellence.
We develop confidence and self esteem in all children, encouraging them to show respect for others and tolerance of opinions and beliefs.

Enjoy and Achieve

We provide a broad curriculum through which our children will develop a sense of direction and purpose and a real enthusiasm for learning.
We encourage independent, active learning, giving children opportunities to work in a variety of ways and groupings and strive to meet individual needs.

Make a Positive Contribution

We encourage children to take responsibility and contribute positively to the life of the school community and ultimately to develop the qualities, knowledge, skills and understanding needed to play a full and active part in a modern multi-cultural society.

Achieve economic well-being

We promote a climate of life-long learning for children and adults associated with our school.
